Artist's Statement
The images below are a sampling of recent projects. Truncations IV is part of a silverpoint drawing series that explores the impact of removing objects of attention from their original contexts. The silverpoint renderings of these intentionally altered subjects challenge the viewer to assess the sufficiency of evidence that we are willing to accept in reconstructing the past and speculating about the future. Davis Tannery - Red Door in the Afternoon is an image from a documentation of an abandoned industrial site. Similar subject matter is found in For Eye Washing Only which explores a staircase in an abandoned aluminum factory in Kingston. Nothing and In Our Own Image I are street photographs exploring juxtapositions of text, urban streetscapes, and reflections. Sky Grid 1- Kingston Ontario Pole 1068 is a silverpoint rendering that is serving as a study for further work in painting and photography. Finally, Yet surfacing now is a study of koi surfacing in a dark pond.
